Electropolishing systems
Electropolishing removes roughness peaks and edges and rounds corners, thereby reducing surface roughness. Electropolishing is also used for fine deburring over the whole surface area, reducing the ability of dirt and germs to adhere to the surfaces of processed components.
The smooth surface makes it easier to remove temporary implants after bone regeneration, for example.
For parts subjected to mechanical stress, electropolishing increases strength, corrosion resistance and thus service life, since electropolishing can remove stress cracks and structural changes on the surface. Moreover, reducing micro-roughness produces shiny surfaces.
Process sequence using a KKS electropolishing system
KKS electropolishing units are of modular design and can be configured as either manual or fully automatic systems. The plants are designed so that the process sequence can be carried out in a single run according to customer-specific requirements. Depending on the product requirements, processes such as pre-cleaning, electropolishing, power rinsing, passivation, rinsing and drying are coordinated with each other and integrated within a single system. To ensure operator safety, an extraction unit is installed in the electropolishing and power rinsing tank.

Electropolishing system for electrolytic polishing and fine deburring
In the medical sector, smooth, finely deburred and corrosion-resistant surfaces are an attractive and compelling quality feature of many products. The key to success is a stable and reproducible electrochemical process that polishes stainless steel surfaces to a clean and shiny metallic finish.
With KKS electropolishing systems, material is removed from the surface of the workpiece through precise specification of the process parameters in the micrometer range. More extensive removal of material from tips and edges is carried out to achieve flat surfaces and fine deburring. This results in high-gloss, burr-free, metallically pure and smooth surfaces.
Through precisely adjustable and monitored process control, KKS electropolishing systems guarantee reproducible surface quality. They create and optimize a wide range of technical, functional and optical features in a single electropolishing operation.
The units are customer-specific and adapted to individual requirements.
Electropolishing system for stainless steel bulk goods

In precision mechanics, smooth, finely deburred and corrosion-resistant surfaces are an attractive and compelling quality feature. KKS electropolishing systems for bulk material allow small parts to be electropolished efficiently in large quantities.
All process management is carried out intuitively via an HMI operator panel. The electropolishing process is fully automatic. Transport of the electropolishing drum can be manual or automatic.

Peripheral equipment
Whether you require system peripherals such as DI water treatment, integrated heating systems (continuous-flow water heaters, heat exchangers), dehumidification modules for efficient drying, or neutralization systems for contaminated exhaust air and wastewater: KKS offers suitable peripheral equipment for electropolishing systems that supports and guarantees safe and efficient process flows.
Qualified electropolishing systems form the basis for successful process validation in the regulated environment
KKS has more than ten years’ experience in the qualification of electropolishing systems. Electropolishing systems are realized mainly on a customer-specific basis. Equipment qualification (DQ/IQ/OQ) and computer system validation of equipment (CSV) can therefore be carried out as part of the project. This parallel approach by KKS offers another major advantage and huge time savings for our customers.
